Savage X Fenty Show

Our beautiful Miss Vanessa Hudgens walked the runway at the Rihanna Savage X Fenty fashion show this past week.  She killed it.  She was as beautiful, charming, and stylish as ever.  

It was a great show.  However, there was controversy from media outlets concerning “cultural appropriation” because Hudgens wore her hair in braids, as did a few of the other models. This is a moot point, in my opinion, since Rihanna coordinated and styled the show.  Hudgens did not decide to wear braids on her own, nor was she trying to exploit black culture.

The notion that when someone happens to embrace a particular style or fashion that is not their own, and the other side automatically regards it as cultural appropriation (misappropriation), is entirely bogus.  In all honesty, if that person wears it with sincerity, not poking fun or in a mocking way, it should not be considered exploitation but rather taken as a compliment.

All in all, Vanessa represented and did a great job in the Savage X Fenty show.  She will always be a classic Filipino American beauty.
